Welcome to our first newsletter of the Rotary Year 2025/26
President's Note
As this year's President of Bristol Breakfast Rotary Club, I'd like to share a little more about what we do and the difference we make to the local community of Bristol and the surrounding areas, as well as some of the work we do internationally to help communities in need.
Additionally, I'd like to talk about some of the forthcoming events and initiatives that we are working on and welcome you to become involved, if you are not already.
Please do feel free to contact me directly or to get in touch with any of our members, who can tell you more about the club, the benefits of being a member, the opportunities that await you as a member for Rotary International, and let's not forget the fun and friendship that comes along with it!

Ideas For The Year
With a new year comes new ideas as the incoming President gets to work on their plans to carry on the great work of all those who have gone before.
It can seem daunting as the next 12 months are stretched out in front, but the time soon passes and Elaine has the intention of growing and building our club further so we can enhance what we do to help as many good causes as possible, while providing networking and personal development opportunities for business and professional people in the city, whether retired or still involved in their careers.
She has a some things in mind and below are just a few....... as the year progresses we'll keep you informed of progress as well as the other things we want to do!
Rotary's Got Talent!
Over the coming months, we'll be organising a 'Rotary's Got Talent' online contest for the students of Bristol.
If you know of a budding singer or performer that is below the age of 16 that might be interested in showing us what they've got, watch this space and we will roll out details very soon!
Clothes & Books
What does that mean, you might ask! We all have unworn, in some cases brand new, clothes that we know we will never wear! We also have shelves and shelves of books that we have read and we know are taking up space. Each Wednesday, at our club breakfast meeting, Elaine is collecting these from members, their friends and families and organising the sale of them online with a view to raising funds for the club so that we can keep supporting the causes that need our help.
If you have anything and you'd like to help, drop it off at our breakfast meeting, and we'll get it organised!

President's Challenge
A few ideas being considered for this one... at some point in the Rotary year, Elaine will undertake a personal challenge to raise funds for the Club.
Please let us know if you'd like to add an idea to the mix and we will let you know what and when we end up with to put our President through our paces!
July Activity
Bridge Learning Campus Technology Challenge
We have worked with the students and teachers of Bridge Learning Campus in South Bristol quite extensively and July was Technology Challenge month.
The remit for teams from Years 8 & 9 was to build and launch a rocket using pre-defined materials that were provided.
They all had a great day, supported by volunteers from our own club as well as Bristol Rotary Club and the winners were presented with medals and certificates by the Presidents of both clubs.
Ongoing Initiative
Aspiring Leaders
For a few months now, we have been involved in a programme developed by a few of our members who are heavily involved with the business community and have successful careers in various professions.
Through their contacts and collaboration with business leaders in the city, they have identified a few individuals who we have matched with some of our member volunteers to undertake a development programme to assist them in their career and personal development journeys.
One to one meetings are arranged and goals set over a 12 month period with a view to setting and achieving benchmarks that are relevant to that individual's own specific challenges and aspirations.
As we go through the year, we help these individuals to meet their goals and we celebrate their successes with them. We are also looking forward to welcoming them to visit our club meetings when they can share their views and meet our members so they can enjoy the company and support of an enormously broad range of professional experience that exists within our club.
We are proud of this initiative and look forward to sharing more of its success. If you know anyone who you think may benefit, please do let us know.
